Hi crafty friends,

I've been watching Youtube videos again lol and so I was inspired to create my own background from scratch! Now I'm not a drawer at all so this was very difficult to do but, apart from a big mistake (can you pick it? I'll tell you in a minute) I was happy with how it turned out. The tree is surprisingly easier to create, the rest took a lot more thought. My mistake was when I created the fence I coloured all the vertical pieces without giving consideration to the horizontal pieces that would be in front of the slats. So I had to make the horizontal pieces darker to try and hide what I'd done. I didn't succeed very well but have definitely learned for next time. Probably would be a good idea to draw the background in with a grey-lead pencil first doh! This adorable image with her cat comes from Conie Fong. Unicorns for Mabel's 5th Birthday (The Greeting Farm stamps)

I made this card for my gorgeous niece Mabel who just turned 5 years old. I used some lovely unicorns from The Greeting Farm. I made the background with cloud border dies and a light coating of pale blue ink.

Girly 1st Birthday card (LOTV image)

Hi crafty friends,

My friend's sweet granddaughter just turned 1 year old so I asked her if she'd like me to make a card for her to give. I made an extra large card and played around with adding the little bears (from Lili of the Valley) and the balloon sentiment. I then created the background including the tree which I'm a bit proud of as I've never drawn a tree like this before. I accidentally got a couple of Copic marker dots on the background so I decided to add more and make it confetti, turned out ok and I don't think they'd realise it was a mistake now hehe.

Big Hugs from Tweety Bird card

I created this card for one of my lifelong friends. The Tweety bird image was a free colouring page, I coloured it then fussy cut it and added it to my inked background. The sentiment is a Lawn Fawn stamp and die set.

Spread a lil magic Fairy card (Saturated Canary image)

Hi Crafty Friends,

I've been playing around with my Oxide inks again, they are so much fun! I also used my star stencil again with my texture paste. Last time I created a card with a similar background I asked for advice on how to keep the stars white - thanks so much for the ideas Vannessa and Carol, for anyone else that's interested their ideas were to use embossing powder instead of texture paste or stencil over the background once inked, I love both the ideas and will definitely try them in the future.

I used one of my extra large Spellbinders dies to create the borders, I don't usually use them as they are so large but I realised I don't have to use the top and bottom as well. The background goes really well against the colouring of the Saturated Canary image but I couldn't manage to photograph it well, they look like completely different shades of pink.

Birthday Bear with gifts card (Di's Digis image)

Hi Crafty Friends,

This is my favourite card of the day to post, I actually made the background for a Saturated Canary image but when I put my sweet bear against it I liked them together better, sometimes that happens doesn't it? The gorgeous image is from Di's Digis. I used a star stencil and white smooth texture paste, waited for it to dry then sponged some oxide inks over it. Some crafters manage to get the stars to stay white, I tried baby wiping them but they remained yellow and I didn't mind it but I'd love to know if you know a handy tip for my issue?
